18 years old and I made my first pie with my mom

Something about that strikes me as weird. But! Regardless, we made a pie for mother's day and it was DELICIOUS.

My mom gave up sugar (I'm talking all sugar. ALL -A klondike bar makes her nauseous- SUGAR) in january so it was kind of a challenge to find a recipe for a pie that was actually kind of appetizing sounding, not that I even know how to tell if a random bunch of ingredients sound appetizing. I used this recipe: sugarless apple pie recipe.

Basically though, it had a picture so I picked it.

So we had everything except the frozen apple juice and the pie crust. We go to the store: NO SUGARLESS APPLE JUICE. what the hell nationwide grocery store that shall remain nameless. we got the kind with only 28g sugar. FINE. I'm already mad my pie shall have sugar. We storm off to the frozen section and BAM NO PIE CRUST IN THE ENTIRE DAMN STORE. I even harassed a random shelf stocker to go look in the back. NONE.

So I went to another store. SUCK IT NATIONWIDE GROCERY STORE.

Okay so it takes me like an hour to peel and core 6 apples because I fail at life. but then we get cookin and it's a breeze until we get to the part that says cover the crusts after 20 minutes of baking. At some point in my parents' married life, my grandma gave them a pie crust cover. I see this crust cover ALL THE TIME. I mean this thing is the bane of my existence. It always falls out and creates a ruckus when you're trying to get something from the back of the cabinet. LOW AND BEHOLD the one time we need it, it is nowhere to be found. Screw it, we put the pie in the oven. All fine and dandy.

Then we missed the timer because we were outside surveying plants in our yard. And the crust becomes puff pastry. OOPS. We decide it looks anemic and slap some butter on it and put it back in the oven.

We tried to serve it. and failed. WE'RE MASTER BAKERS.

happy mother's day!
